About the role

We are seeking a self-motivated and engaging person with excellent communication and organisation skills to develop, implement and grow Asthma WA’s community fundraising programs.

Key accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement a yearly plan to increase income across a broad range of fundraising streams including; community and third-party fundraising, peer to peer initiatives, regular giving, bequests and events;
  • Develop, support and nurture positive relationships with individuals, community groups, schools and small businesses to increase fundraising potential;
  • Ensure close, accurate management of income and expenses to budget;
  • Proactively innovate and implement new fundraising opportunities;
  • Monitor and respond to donor and fundraising enquiries with a high standard of customer service with the objective of nurturing supporters for maximum fundraising outcomes and retention;
  • Community Events: develop and maintain a community fundraising calendar. Provide guidance, fundraising advice and materials to enable events to be as successful as possible. Coordinate the approval process and ensure all events adhere to Asthma WA guidelines including the receipt of correct paperwork. Manage external fundraising websites and online platforms to ensure maximised income from fundraisers. Coordinate the ‘thank you’ process to ensure that all stakeholders and appropriately thanked post event;
  • Asthma WA events: responsible for planning, logistics, administration, sourcing of donated goods and services, execution and review;
  • Work with Marketing and Communications Manager on segmentation and supporter journey strategies to increase the impact of fundraising campaigns;
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to effectively contribute to fundraising programs;
  • Contribute to the organisation’s communications and marketing activities;
  • Ensure all activity is entered and managed through the organisation’s database;
  • Assist in the development of direct mail appeals and retention and conversion strategies;
  • Produce monthly fundraising activity reports;
  • Comply with work place policies and procedures, including Occupational Safety and Health and Equal Opportunity legislation;
  • Have a flexible attitude to working hours, particularly in the lead up to events and in relation to attending out of hours events and functions;
  • Other projects and/or duties as required.

Essential Criteria

  1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience and demonstrated success in a fundraising role, working across a broad range of fundraising streams including; community and third-party fundraising, peer to peer initiatives, regular giving, bequests and events;
  2. Proven ability to develop and grow existing and new fundraising programs;
  3. Demonstrated experience in project management with strong skills in planning, evaluation, financial management and return on investment analysis; managing projects from inception to completion;
  4. Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple projects and meet set timelines within budget;
  5. Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence, motivate and gain confidence of a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds;
  6. Experience in monitoring, reporting on, and evaluating programs or projects;
  7. Innovative, able to problem solve and adaptable to change;
  8. Experience working with a fundraising database (ThankQ desirable) and excellent attention to detail, particularly when managing data;
  9. Advanced skill level in the Microsoft Office program suite;
  10. A collaborative and positive working style;
  11. Current Driver’s License and vehicle;
  12. Must be a non-smoker (includes vaping).

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience in organising events;
  2. Experience with supporter engagement strategies;
  3. Experience working with volunteers.
