About The ASRC

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement. We are an independent not for profit, whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social wellbeing. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia. We are proud to be owned and run by our community of volunteers and supporters.

The ASRC employs over 100 staff and depends on 1000 dedicated volunteers to carry out programs that support and empower over 4,000 people seeking asylum each year.

About The Role

Admin Support Volunteers work across various programs and areas within the ASRC, providing invaluable administration, customer service and operations support.

They enable our programs to function smoothly and effectively, meaning we can provide more services to people seeking asylum.

Commitment Required

We are looking for a commitment of one shift per week, ideally for 12 months. Shifts are available every weekday from 10am-5pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Managers and Coordinators with administrative tasks
  • Liaise with other volunteers, members, and/or external stakeholders by email and telephone
  • Word processing and filing documentation
  • Booking and entering appointments
  • Booking venues and equipment for events & training
  • Data entry
  • Drafting documents and presentations
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

Selection Criteria

  • Previous experience in an administration role
  • Accurate and fast data entry skills
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint
  • High level customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
