ABOUT THE EARLY INTERVENTION TEAM

Our Early Intervention Team use a transdisciplinary Key Worker Model of service delivery, which is a highly valued model of practice and promoted by the NDIS, where a family has one point of contact who will coordinate and liaise with the Transdisciplinary team in terms of therapy and services provided. We also follow a family-centred approach, and work alongside and in partnership with families to ensure choice and control in how their goals are achieved.

WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE

  • ASSESSMENTS - You will implement a wide range of assessments to identify individual strengths, challenges and diagnoses.
  • INTERVENTION - You will identify goals for intervention and carefully support and monitor progress in each session. Your intervention will based on information derived from your detailed assessments. You will work closely with families to build their capacity to implement functional and meaningful strategies from day to day. Support provided is flexible as you may support the family in a variety of settings, from our facility, their home or education setting, or in the community.
  • VARIED CASELOAD - Primarily working with children experiencing autism, developmental language delay, intellectual impairment, specific learning disabilities, attentional disorders and other neurodevelopmental delays, you will provide evidence-based intervention in individual and group formats.
  • COLLABORATION WITH PEERS - Achieve client outcomes through an integrated approach to therapy and consultation with families, carers, guardians, and healthcare and education providers. You will regularly attend meetings and liaise with medical and allied health professionals to ensure a team-based approach to support.
  • SUPPORT FROM THE TEAM - You will work with an amazing team of administrators, teachers and other allied health professionals to develop your skills.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant qualifications in Occupational Therapy.
  • A passion for, or experience in working with and supporting a range of children with a disability and their families, and an understanding of their complex needs
  • Ability to build and maintain appropriate rapport and constructive and effective relationships with customers their families/carers and other relevant stakeholders
  • Knowledge of or experience working in a multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary team
  • Interested in gaining knowledge, or experienced in early childhood development, behaviours and learning
  • Ability to effectively manage time, planning and organise work schedule and demonstrate initiative when working without direct supervision
  • High levels of enthusiasm, initiative and a positive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to foster positive relationships
