Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) has grown to become Australia's largest national educational program for children on the autism spectrum, with 9 independent schools operating from 50 locations in NSW and South Australia catering to over 1,200 students, with more than 100 classes hosted on the grounds of a less specialised school.
Aspect Western Sydney School provides placement for close to 160 children on the Autism spectrum from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our main site is located at Wetherill Park with 13 satellite classes within the Catholic and Department of Education schools across the Greater Western and South Western regions of Sydney.
Aspect now has an exciting opportunity for a Principal to provide expert educational leadership for the Aspect Western Sydney School. This is a full-time position being offered on a 5-year maximum term contract. As Principal, you will lead a skilled, professional team to achieve positive outcomes for children on the autism spectrum, whilst actively contributing to the professional growth and development of Aspect's education services and strategic plan implementation.
To be considered for this position, you will be an experienced, tertiary qualified teacher that is currently registered as a Proficient Teacher with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), or eligible to apply if successful in your application. Ideally, you will also hold additional qualifications in special education, education leadership or disability services, however this is not mandatory providing you can demonstrate some previous experience working in special education. A genuine interest and desire to work in special education is essential to be considered for this position. Any experience working specifically with students on the autism spectrum or with an intellectual disability will be highly regarded.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Principal looking to move into special education and/or someone currently working in educational leadership as a Deputy/Assistant Principal/Head of Department, looking for a chance to take the next step up in their career.
We are looking for a visionary leader - someone who can think strategically, display resilience and inspire a team. You will work collaboratively with staff to improve teaching and learning opportunities and services and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including families and children enrolled at the school.
Remuneration packages for Aspect Principals are based on student numbers of the school. Relocation assistance is also negotiable for this position, should you be moving to Sydney from interstate or intrastate.
