An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Summerland Farm team, in the role of Team Leader, Farm and Workshop. In this role you will provide effective supervision and support to a small team to carry out day to day operations of our farming businesses. During lull periods in farm production, you will support other horticulture businesses, and lead the workshop to service the Summerland plant and equipment fleet. You will equip your team to provide excellent customer service, ensuring repeat business, and operational excellence. The position will be required to be available for some shift work, including some occasional weekends for peak periods.

This role will suit someone with experience farming, particularly fruit crops and who also have some experience with basic vehicle and equipment repairs and maintenance, welding and steel work etc.

  • You achieved strong service and quality outcomes, looking out for opportunities to grow the farming business
  • You empowered and equipped Supported Employees to become skilled team members
  • You provided effective operational leadership of day-to-day farming, resulting in strong orchard management and harvest outcomes
  • You minimised plant and equipment downtime and effectively managed repairs and maintenance
  • You engaged customers and created a positive experience at Summerland Farm
  • You provided effective coaching, and sensitive management of team members with diverse needs.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in farming, particularly avocado and macadamia crops
  • Experience in vehicle and equipment repairs and maintenance, as well as welding and steel work
  • Sufficient physical fitness to meet the manual handling and environmental requirements of the position
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising employees and or teams
  • Excellent customer service
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Sound organisational skills and ability to prioritise work of a small team
  • A current Australian driver's license
