Support Worker - Advanced Practitioner

This role seeks to recognise the experience and expertise of employees working in environments which have been identified as requiring specialist skills, knowledge and experience.

To ensure that employees in complex environments are supported with best practice knowledge so as to provide high quality services.

The main objectives of this role are to:

  • Perform the role of a Support Worker where we support people with complex needs
  • Work with customers to explore and resolve practical complex needs on a daily basis
  • Work with customers and families/carers to remove any barriers to meeting personal goals
  • Ensure complex medical needs of customers are met and maintained
  • Ensure complex legislative requirements associated with customers are adhered to e.g. restrictive practices, forensic orders
  • Role model and provide active support to customers
  • Guide the implementation and consistency of application of Positive Behaviour Support Plan strategies
  • Ensure that communication tools are accessible, used and maintained by staff
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members

Must haves…

  • Enthusiastic about supporting people with disabilities to live great lives. The lives they want and choose (we're all about putting the people we support first. That's a non-negotiable)
  • Current Driver's License
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Strong sense of accountability and confidentiality
  • Flexibility in the hours you work each week
  • Willing to travel across multiple sites and services
  • Minimum of Cert 4 in disabilities or mental health
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting people with complex support needs (Minimum 2 years)

Nice to have….

  • Experience in personal care (and happy for this to be part of your job)
  • Experience in behavioural support is highly desirable

Grading subject to qualifications and experience.
