Your opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Lawyer to deliver high quality, timely, and strategic legal advice and guidance in an ethical and impartial manner on a broad range of legal, regulatory and compliance issues to multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced complex and dynamic environment. It is expected this role will also co-ordinate and oversee externally sourced legal advice and services.

What success looks like…

  • Ability to quickly digest and interpret legal, regulatory and compliance issues relevant to Aruma, its structure, the disability services sector and changing government policy
  • Ability to assess risk, combine legal skills with sound commercial and practical judgment in the day-to-day management and carriage of legal matters
  • Assist in developing mitigation strategies to ensure Aruma is able to meet its legal, regulatory and compliance obligations
  • Assist the executive leadership team with any reasonable requests within their capabilities, including, but not limited to, drafting board papers
  • Draft briefs to advise and instruct external lawyers and barristers to advise/appear at hearings/Coronial inquests as required
  • Assist Senior Legal Counsel with management of key legal compliance projects

About you

  • Completion of a law degree with at least 5 years PQE with expertise in at least 3 of the following areas of law: Commercial Contracts, Complaints/investigations, Dispute Resolution, Statutory Interpretation, Administrative Law, Intellectual Property and Policy Reviews
  • Current unrestricted Australian Practising Certificate conferring admission to practice as an Australian Lawyer
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and legal advice and guidance in an ethical, independent and impartial manner across a range of specialised and complex legal and regulatory issues
  • Good understanding of the requirements imposed on corporate entities by the Corporations Act (2001) and the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission Act
