We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Nurse to provide high level, complex health care assessments and advise and provide training to staff in relation to customer's health care needs.

What success looks like:

  • You will provide high level complex health care assessments and advise and provide training to staff in relation to the customer's health care needs.
  • Provide supervision and support/training to the Registered Nurses reporting to this role
  • Provide clinical knowledge and expertise to support the placements of children, young people and adults in a range of Aruma placements.
  • Provide assessments of children, young people and adult's changing health status
  • Develop and monitor health care plans around meeting the health needs of individuals with complex health care issues.
  • Provide training and support for carers regarding health care plans.
  • Educate personnel, including support workers and carers, on how to support clients with complex health needs including limited manual handling techniques and performing complex health care procedures such as PEG feeding, the administration of Midazolam for seizure management and basic catheter/stoma care.
  • Assess capability and competency of personnel including support workers and carers to provide complex care needs.
  • Assess the need for additional therapeutic and practical resources and services for clients and assist in securing these resources.
  • Exercise independent professional judgment concerning the selection and application of principles, methods and techniques of therapeutic assessments and/or treatment.
  • Assist and contribute to service planning and formulation of policies and procedures for the newly established Therapeutic Support Services and Children's services teams.
  • Provide consultation and advice to wider Aruma forums and committees to address matters relating to the health care needs of Aruma customers
  • Work as part of a multi/trans-disciplinary model as part of Therapeutic Supports Services with a range of allied health professionals providing clinical skills, knowledge and experience as part of a holistic and integrated approach to supporting Adults with a disability and Children with disabilities in Out of Home Care.

Must haves…

  • A commitment to Aruma's code of conduct
  • Full qualification as a Registered Nurse and current registration with AHPRA .
  • Significant experience working with adults and children with a disability who have high support medical needs.
  • Current knowledge and demonstrated experience of clinical practice in the area of health assessment, planning, training and advocacy for adults and children with a disability.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work within and demonstrate the "Aruma Way" in all interactions.
  • Current Driver Licence and a willingness to travel to different locations as required.

Nice to haves…

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Have a minimum 3 years' experience in the delivery of Therapeutic supports to adults and children in care with complex health support needs
  • Knowledge, understanding and commitment to the policies, procedures and delegations of Aruma, together with relevant policy and legislation relating to provision care to children in out of home care placements.
  • Experience in delivering and evaluating relevant training for support staff
  • Working with Children Check and National Police Check clearance
