Artback NT is seeking a savvy Business Manager to build, maintain and develop key relationships to drive self-generated income and identify funding opportunities to support Artback NT’s organisational initiatives.

about the role

The Business Manager will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to:

  • Develop, implement and manage effective programs focused on building, maintaining and developing key relationships in order to meet the strategic objective of increasing self-generated income 
  • Identify opportunities through philanthropy, grants, foundations and government agencies to secure funds and support organisational initiatives 
  • Prepare and submit funding applications for State and Federal funding bodies and manage the timely preparation and submission of funding acquittals 
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports relating to budgets, accounts payment and receivable, profit and loss and other reporting as required 
  • Maintain all required organisational and insurance policies and procedures and provide guidance in continuous improvement, compliance and risk management planning across all business operations
  • Play a leadership role in the maintenance and development of Artback NTs policies and procedures information
  • Provide support to the Chief Executive Officer in implementing operational Human Resources activities, including recruitment, performance management and staff development

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Essential

  • Qualifications in business administration and human resources or extensive relevant experience in a senior finance and HR administration or management role, preferably within an arts or community service organisation
  • Knowledge and experience in budgeting and reporting and seeking and securing financial support from individuals, trusts, foundations and government agencies; grants management and acquittal processes
  • Excellent strategic planning and time management skills
  • High level written and oral communication skills, including IT skills, attention to detail, and ability to effectively relate to and communicate with diverse stakeholders and audiences
  • Highly developed negotiation and interpersonal skills with the capability to build strong relationships and demonstrated commitment to stakeholder management
  • Sound skills and experience in the use of Microsoft Office application software (including Outlook, Word, Excel) and electronic information systems
  • Self-motivated with highly developed problem-solving skills and ability to respond to ever-changing working demands

Desirable

  • Knowledge and interest in arts practices 
  • Experience in working across cross-cultural environments and ensuring culturally safe professional practice
  • Knowledge and experience with MYOB and/or other financial software
