About the role

Commencing in 2014 the Remote School Attendance Strategy (RSAS) is an Australian Government initiative. ALPA operates the RSAS program in 5 communities in Arnhem Land. Our grass – roots, community-based approach works closely with families, schools, and other organisations in the community to deliver a service that is sensitive to the needs of the local community and provides employment to the local indigenous people.

You will provide administration support to the RSAS program, Community Engagement program and the RSAS and Engagement Department.

This role is a 9-month full time non-ongoing contract ending in March 2022.

Responsibilities

Provide administration support for the planning, resourcing, approval, and implementation of RSAS and Community Engagement programs.

  • Book travel following established procedures.
  • Pack and deliver stock to transport providers.
  • Administer the site, vehicle, and equipment maintenance requests for RSAS sites.
  • Undertake timesheet data entry and reconciliations for payroll requirements in the RSAS program.
  • Undertake purchasing activities including identifying suppliers, seeking quotes, creating purchase orders, ordering stock, receipting stock, and requesting invoices.
  • Maintain Departmental Dashboards, project sheets, order logs, and budget documents.
  • Be a champion of the ALPA values and demonstrate a commitment to work health and safety.

Skills and Experience

  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using electronic systems for financial reporting and stock control.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication skills that can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all education levels, language abilities, and ethnic origin.
  • The capacity to link daily activities to the ALPA values and mission.
  • An ability to obtain and maintain an NT driving license.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Aboriginal people in a remote environment.
  • Prior experience working in the Northern Territory.
