Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Development of the OCD and Anxiety Disorders Helpline

  • Coordinate the development and delivery of the OCD and Anxiety Helpline, an information, support and referral service (telephone, e-mail and face-to-face)
  • Assist with the development of relevant resources associated with core programs – e.g. fact sheets, website, maintenance of referral database etc
  • Development and maintenance of links with relevant health providers, community groups and other relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of policies and standards for programs and services
  • Develop and maintain processes, procedures and rosters for the Helpline.
  • Coordinate and monitor data recording procedures for services. Maintain appropriate statistics, case notes and records, and ensure data collection is undertaken for the HelpLine for quarterly statistical reports.
  • Monitor quality and standard of support services, and ensure client satisfaction measures are utilised in evaluations.

Recruitment, Training and Supervision of Volunteers

  • Effectively managing and coordinating a team of volunteers.
  • Ability to develop strategies and supporting policies designed to attract and develop a high performing volunteer team.
  • Manage the recruitment of volunteers ensuring they meet all selection and screening criteria. This includes handling all general enquiries (responding within 24 hours), conducting information sessions, interviews, reference checks, police and working with children checks, conduct performance reviews and review skills and provide professional development opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer details, skills and supervision, Community/Professional education and Information Services

Assistance with the Community/Professional education and Information Services

  • Assist with preparation and deliver high quality presentations, seminars, educational workshops and other mental health promotion activities and campaigns, including OCD & Anxiety Disorders Week.
  • Contribution to content on the organisation’s website and social media pages

Selection Criteria

  • Experience in recruitment, training coordination, and supervision of volunteers
  • Tertiary/Post Graduate qualifications in allied Mental Health, Welfare, Social Work Health or Community Services or working towards
  • Experience managing and relating to a volunteer workforce in a NFP environment would be highly regarded
  • Experience in the development and delivery of training programs
  • At least two years experience in working within the mental health sector and or with anxiety disorders
  • An understanding of anxiety disorders, mental health systems, and community support
  • Demonstrated experience in telephone counselling, client centred counselling and group facilitation
  • Demonstrated experience in community education and/or health promotion, and event management
  • High quality written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Demonstrated planning, organisational and administration skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, including ability and experience in relating to a diverse range of groups and individuals
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, organise work and achieve objectives within time lines
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team and highly independently when necessary
  • The desire and ability to take responsibility for own learning and development
  • A commitment to upholding organisational quality and standards of service delivery and to the mission, aims and organisational philosophy
  • Computer skills are essential, including knowledge of Microsoft office programs, internet and email
  • Current drivers licence

Desirable

  • A passion for participating in mental health community based projects around mental health especially anxiety disorders and well being
  • Demonstrated experience with evaluation and analysis of client feedback and of reporting on results to management and external organisations
  • Drive and ability to encourage, support and work with a team comprised of professionals, staff, students, volunteers and people with anxiety disorders and carers
