Purpose of this role

The belong Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) on-site Supervisor is highly motivated, experienced and committed to supporting eligible SQW participants in developing industry knowledge, achieve and complete a Certificate I in Conservation and Land Management, provide daily supervision for a team of up to 12 trainees, and manage a structured program of works, with activities relating to conservation, bush regeneration and general maintenance duties, and developing employability skills to competitively enter the Australian labour market.

The SQW Site Supervisor role will be paid at the SCHADS Level 4 salary.

Duties

  • Supervise groups of SQW trainees to achieve positive experiences and complete a Certificate I traineeship
  • Plan and deliver work schedules and daily activities in accordance with Certificate I, Conservation and Land Management modules and employability skills
  • Support the application, interview process and support HR processes of trainees as per contractual requirements
  • Transport trainees to specified work sites using organisational bus and trailer
  • Deliver group-based workshops, on a range of industry relevant topics
  • Undertake administrative functions of the SQW program
  • Care, maintenance and record keeping of tools and equipment as required
  • Conducting WHS checks including; Vehicle safety checks, daily tool box talks, incident reports, and Safe Work Method Statements
  • Support health and wellbeing of participants in line with COVID safe plans as required
  • Liaise with stakeholders and partners regarding work activities, resources and processes
  • Report to SQW Project Coordinator and SQW Program Manager as required
  • Contribute to a culture that supports health, safety and wellbeing of all staff, clients and stakeholders
  • Work with new arrivals and local community members, to develop relevant knowledge and employability skills
  • As a mentor, demonstrate how to successfully enter the Australian labour market
  • Champion the benefits of workforce diversity and marketing belong’s workforce
  • Required qualification and experience
  • A level III or higher qualification in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or equivalent
  • Management training package, or currently undertaking training to achieve, or demonstrated equivalent experience at a level IV
  • Senior First Aid and CPR
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Selection Criteria

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience in providing results-driven employment support to jobseekers, with emphasis on meeting funding criteria KPI’s
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively and strategically through utilising high level stakeholder negotiation skills (internal and external) in seeking opportunities for clients and the organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work supportively and collaboratively within a small team
  • Experience in leading teams of trainees, to support completion of traineeships and gain employability skills
  • Demonstrated values of integrity, resilience, teamwork and professionalism consistent with belongs vision, including outstanding cross-cultural communication skills and a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of issues in relation to employment and training
  • Open driver’s licence

Desirable Skills and/or Experience

  • Previous experience in supporting eligible SQW participants to achieve Certificate I traineeship, with a goal of creating employment opportunities
  • Previous experience in Site Supervisor role to support Skilling Queenslanders for Work projects and trainees
  • A minimum 12 months experience working in a similar land care type role highly desirable
