The role:

We are looking for a strong, driven and passionate individual who will be based in Geraldton on a full-time basis. This role will require outreach support services and may be based in other locations such as Carnarvon. The successful candidate will play a vital role in guiding and coordinating our Child, Youth & Family Services teams in the Mid-West, Gascoyne and Pilbara regions. Family Support Counsellors and Family Support Workers will report directly to you for coordination of programs and key performance indicators. You will work closely with the Executive Child, Youth & Family Services delivering staff support, operational planning, and building success within this team.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Guiding and developing staff professionally, enhancing their capacity to deliver outstanding service through mentorship, coaching and performance management strategies;
  • Providing informal and formal performance feedback, initiating regular appraisal meetings, discussing performance in relation to KPI’s;
  • Developing guidelines and processes to enhance team performance as well as developing new initiatives for delivery of service;
  • Providing clear and professional reports on a regular basis which track, and measure contracted funder requirements, using appropriate data retrieval methods and as well as accurate and suitable metrics;
  • Managing the team’s budget including maintaining up to date records of funding and costs. Ensuring that these are on track to stay within allocated boundaries;
  • Team Leads will be expected to carry a service delivery case load which is calculated based on direct reports.

What you will need to succeed:

This is a great opportunity for an inspiring Team Lead with demonstrated experience in leading and providing support to teams remotely by use of information technology (email, video and telephone). You must have substantial counselling experience working with both youth and adults.

With a tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work you will pride yourself on the ability to lead a team independently, taking accountability and responsibility of day to day office operations and team member service delivery challenges.

You will have demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage change in a positive manner whilst consistently demonstrating behaviours that reinforce the values of HelpingMinds.

Additionally, you will have high level interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) including experience in report writing.
