The Australian Refugee Association Inc. (ARA) is a community-based organisation providing settlement, migration and other forms of assistance to refugees, migrants and other people of concern. ARA is seeking an experienced Project Officer to deliver our Community Services Support Program (CSSP). We are seeking an individual with relevant qualifications and experience in program development and delivery as well as case management services and support to clients from migrant and refugee backgrounds. The role will involve coordination and provision of advice and education concerning child safety (child protection), family relationships and domestic violence.

The CSSP Project Officer will be responsible for:

• Developing and planning program initiatives through identification of client needs.
• Delivering client centred case management support for clients on issues concerning child safety (child protection), family relationships and domestic violence.
• Providing crisis intervention support and developing and undertaking appropriate referrals to specialist service providers.
• Providing advice and education on matter related to domestic violence/family breakdown.
• Advocating for clients needs and requirements.
• Providing education on settlement services and Australian law regarding child protection.

The successful candidate will have:

• A tertiary degree in a relevant field (i.e social work, psychology etc)
• Experience in providing client-centred case management planning and implementation (child safety and protection, family relationships and family and domestic violence (FDV))
• Experience in crisis intervention and navigating FDV disclosures and adherence to mandated reporting requirement
• Understanding of best practice with regards to working with CALD clients and youth
• A general understanding of the challenges faced by people from CALD backgrounds
• Valid Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain before commencement of employment)
• Completed Child Safe Environment Training and Responding to Abuse and Neglect Training (or be willing to obtain before commencement of employment)

This is a part time (0.6FTE) Level 4 position of the SCHCDS Industry Award until February 2023 (maternity contract) commencing on 1 February 2022. The role will be primarily located in Salisbury.
