The Australian Refugee Association Inc. (ARA) is a community-based organisation providing settlement, migration and other forms of assistance to refugees, migrants and other people of concern. ARA promotes a holistic approach to the needs of refugees and sees the final goal of settlement as full participation in the social, economic, cultural and political life of Australia while maintaining security of personal, family and community identity.

ARA is seeking a Migration Lawyer to deliver high quality, timely and culturally sensitive immigration advice to clients with from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with complex migration needs. The successful applicant will lead a migration team and have expertise and knowledge regarding the Australian Migration System.

To be considered for the role, applicants must meet the following criteria

• Hold a current unrestricted legal practising certificate
• Must be a registered Migration Agent Office with Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA)
• Experience and knowledge in preparation and submission of humanitarian visa applications (including Community Support Program)
• Experience and knowledge in preparation and submission of protection visa applications and AAT submissions
• Knowledge of partner, skilled, employer sponsored and business visas (desirable but not required)
• Fluency in other languages, particularly Arabic, Dari or Farsi (desirable but not required).
• Ability to work independently, and in a team environment and provide advice and consultation to staff when requested.

This is a part-time (0.6) position until June 2021 with the possibility of extension and renegotiation of hours. Annual salary is $70,000-$80,000 (pro-rata) per annum as per the SCHCDS Industry Award.
