The Australian Refugee Association Inc. (ARA) is a community-based organisation providing settlement, migration and other forms of assistance to refugees, migrants and other people of concern. As a member of our team, you will be supporting new arrivals in South Australia to achieve their social, economic and community participation goals. You will be making a difference in the lives of individuals and families as they re-establish themselves in a new home.

ARA is seeking a qualified and experienced Social Worker to provide case management services and support to clients from migrant and refugee backgrounds with multiple and complex issues or in need of crisis intervention. This includes issues related to mental health and wellbeing, homelessness, child protection, domestic violence etc.

The Case Manager – Intensive Support will have strong advocacy and collaboration skills, and be responsible for ensuring comprehensive case management planning as well as appropriate referrals.

The Case Manager – Intensive Support will be responsible for:

  • Delivering client centred case management support for clients experiencing multiple and complex issues as well as ongoing support and review
  • Providing information, education and practical assistance to clients
  • Developing and undertaking appropriate referrals to specialist service providers
  • Advocating for clients needs and requirements
  • High level case noting and reporting to managers and funding bodies
  • Financial claiming for service delivery and administration of program

The successful candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work (or equivalent)
  • High level of knowledge in social work practices and application
  • A general understanding of the challenges faced by people from CALD backgrounds
  • Experience in providing client-centred case management planning (in one or more key areas of complex cases outlined above)
  • Valid Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain before commencement of employment)
  • Completed Child Safe Environment Training and Responding to Abuse and Neglect Training (or be willing to obtain before commencement of employment)

This is a full time Level 4 position of the SCHCDS Industry Award until December 2022 with the possibility for extension. The role is based in Salisbury, South Australia.
