About the team:

The Policy and Communications unit leads the college's advocacy with government and non-government bodies in Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on safety and quality, Indigenous health and global health initiatives. Much of this work involves communicating with internal and external stakeholders.

The Policy Officer will work under the direction of the Senior Policy Advisor and provide essential support to the college's policy, safety and quality activities including the Advancing Perioperative Medicine project.

About the opportunity:

The Policy Officer will be responsible for:

  • Managing and engaging with external stakeholders
  • Supporting advocacy and communication activities, and the delivery of stakeholder policy engagement activities.
  • Providing administrative and policy support, including to safety and quality committees.
  • Assisting with the development of policy submissions.

Keys to your success:

Specifically you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field as well as sound policy development experience.
  • Experience in developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound project management and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.
  • A reliable team player with a solutions-focused attitude.
  • Health sector experience desirable but not essential.
