Position overview

The Student University Experience plays a key role in the delivery of the University's strategic objective to provide a world’s best university experience for staff and students at Australia’s National University. As the Senior Manager, Student Safety and Wellbeing you be accountable for the operational planning and management of the student critical incident procedure, the pastoral care of students of concern, strategic case management and ongoing welfare campaigns.

Responsible to the Director, University Experience, the Senior Manager, Student Safety and Wellbeing will lead the operational aspects and continued development of the Safety and Wellbeing team and the University’s Student Critical Incident procedure. At a senior level, you will be accountable for an outstanding level of student care, the development of an integrated service approach with other ANU services (for example, ANU Counselling) and the promotion of a culture that embraces student safety, support and wellbeing.

By establishing strong industry, community and university partnerships, the role will create and implement evidence-based approaches to resource planning, priority setting and strategic decision making, maximising the application of insights from data, consultation, and benchmarking specifically related to the case management of students of concern.

You will also have the demonstrated skills and knowledge to provide advice to the ANU community on matters relating to student case management, record management and large scale health and wellbeing campaigns. You will be a highly skilled communicator with a proven ability to influence and communicate over various mediums. 

The Senior Manager, Student Safety and Wellbeing will also be required to be available for after-hours emergency calls relating to critical incidents through a formalised roster system. 

Our ideal candidate will have experience in emergency management or large scale critical incident response to assist us in making the ANU a safer place for students to live, study and learn.
