The Communication and Publications Officer role will achieve the following outcomes:

  • Plan, co-ordinate and deliver a publications program, including the identification of new publications where required.
  • Research, write, edit, coordinate and update plain-language publications, including online materials, manuals, digital newsletters, position statements and video.
  • Provide assistance with media advice, media inquiries and writing media releases where required.
  • Ensure the Branch’s web sites, intranet and digital newsletters are useful and provide timely and accurate information and is consistent with standards and policies
  • Assist with the production of key Branch publications and other marketing material.
  • Contribute to the planning and coordination of internal communications, encouraging information and knowledge transfer across groups, maximising the capability of employees to meet Branch objectives.

The key selection criteria for this role includes

  • Qualification in journalism or related field with experience in media and public relations or communications
  • Experience in planning, writing, editing and producing publications
  • Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills with a focus on the capacity to independently write, coordinate and produce various printed and online publications for a range of audiences and purposes.
  • Understanding of website maintenance/production
  • A demonstrated ability to provide high-quality strategic communications/publications advice
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • The capacity to undertake a wide range of simultaneous and sometimes complex tasks
  • A commitment to the Trade Union movement.

Remuneration

Annual salary of $85, 698 per annum plus 14.5% Super

Additional incentives

5 weeks of annual leave, additional public holidays and generous employment conditions, including ADOs.
