ABOUT US

Animals Australia has earned a global reputation as leaders in strategic campaigning and advocacy. Our award-winning national campaigns and unique investigative work have awakened millions to the suffering of animals within factory farms, slaughterhouses and the live export trade, and inspired countless individuals to drive change for animals by living and eating compassionately.

VegKit was born of a desire to provide the ‘solution’ to the problem so many animals face; our job is to inspire and empower people to change the world for animals, simply by changing the way they eat. VegKit.com is now a robust resource offering users the tools, information, and importantly, the reasons to eat more plant-based meals. With half a million visitors a year, we have hundreds of thousands of opportunities to help people replace the animals on their plates with plant-based alternatives. And we are continually evolving our strategies to rise to that challenge.

Our vision to create a kinder, more compassionate, and respectful world for all living beings is bold and ambitious. To achieve this vision, we need to inspire changed thinking about our relationship with animals on a global scale. Working in this space we encourage a learning mindset at all levels of the organisation, across all roles.

About you

You are, quite frankly, a unicorn! You’re an expert communicator who seamlessly straddles the worlds of food and animal advocacy. You thrive working autonomously, but equally, you recognise when a moment calls for collaboration or guidance.

Crafting prose is your superpower, and you understand how to weave just the right message with your command of the English language. Proper grammar is your default mode, but you're not afraid to bend the rules to make a point that resonates. Your attention to detail? It’s both a blessing and a curse, but you’ve mastered the art of balancing perfection with productivity, consistently delivering top-notch work without getting bogged down.

You’ve got an eye for the big picture too. You know how to assess a brand’s communications landscape, refine it, build on it, and steer it toward the goals you want to achieve. And because you’re the epitome of organised, you operate efficiently with minimal oversight.

You do all of this for the animals, but let's be honest – the food is what truly ignites your passion! You know the quickest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, and you speak the language of plant-based food with the fluency of a true advocate.

Driven and curious, you're always eager to learn and grow in this dynamic space. You’re tech-savvy and ready to embrace new systems and tools as they, and our strategies, evolve.

Our ideal person is:

  • Inspired by our vision for a kinder world, passionate about our mission, and aligned with our values.
  • An exceptional writer with a knack for creating high-quality, engaging content.
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise like a pro.
  • Intuitive about writing and speaking for different audiences, adapting style and tone like a chameleon.
  • Fearlessly tech-savvy and comfortable using platforms like Wordpress or Stripo.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and thrives in a fluid and dynamic remote environment.

You’ll stand out further if you also have:

  • Experience with SEO principles and working with external agencies on SEO projects.
  • A background in non-profit organisations, animal protection, advocacy, or other for-purpose sectors.

Excited by the opportunity but unsure if you have the capabilities we're looking for? We'd love to hear from you! Please reach out to the People & Culture Team via the details below.
