Therapeutic Specialist - Therapy and Trauma

Your role:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced practitioner to work within our KEYS residential services team based at our Dandenong office.  Flexibility to work from home, office and engage with the young people face to face at the houses in Dandenong and Noble Park. The Therapeutic Specialist will work in partnership with Monash Health and provide support to the care team and young people directly in treatment to address their complex behaviours. 

Positions objectives:

  • To promote ability of children and young people to recover from the effects of abuse, family violence, trauma and loss
  • To resource residential care staff and others to provide nurturing, therapeutic, reparative care for children and young people who present with complex needs and challenging behaviours using a trauma framework

Who are we looking for:

  • Experience developing intervention plans and mentoring and coaching staff in therapeutic responses
  • Experience with trauma/mental health of children and young people
  • Experience facilitating reflective practice and clinical supervisions for staff
  • Experience providing secondary consults and training for clinical staff working with children and young people experiencing impacts of trauma 


  • A relevant degree in Social Work, Psychology, and/or a related degree in behavioural sciences 

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.  In line with Anglicare Victoria’s COVID 19 Vaccination Policy, all staff are required to provide evidence of full vaccination against Covid-19 or provide a valid medical exemption.

What you need to know:

  • A salary of $113,000 plus super plus salary packaging at full time
  • Based at Dandenong with travel to residential houses at Dandenong and Noble Park
  • 2 days per week at the houses then 2-3 days office or home based
  • 0.8, 4 days available by negotiation if this better suits your availability
  • Flexibility to start late finish late instead of set 9-5 hours
  • Maximum term contract till June 2023 but likely to extend
