The position:

The Targeted Care Packages support worker will support children/young people and their carers and/or families. The objectives of the position are:

  • To provide high quality practical support to children/young people who are supported by Targeted Care Packages.
  • To achieve better outcomes for children and young people in kinship arrangements by acting as part of a creative, flexible suite of supports to children / young people volunteer caregivers and families.
  • To actively and collaboratively participate in a care team approach.
  • To participate in the development of high quality support strategies for clients and ensure adherence to the relevant DHHS Registration Standards and Anglicare Victoria Policies and Procedures.

To be successful in this position you will need:

Essential

  • A relevant qualification in behavioural sciences at degree level with substantial experience; or associate diploma level with substantial experience in the relevant service stream, or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level.
  • Ability to engage and build rapport with children and young people from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of challenging behaviours.
  • Experience in the support and supervision of carers.
  • Ability to develop and implement, support plans for children and young people in out of home care.
  • Sensitivity to issues of confidentiality, gender, cultural diversity, disability, age and sexuality in dealing with a wide variety of client groups.

Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in responding creatively to the needs of children and young people with highly complex issues.
  • Adaptability and receptiveness to new ideas and demands and not bound by ‘old ways of doing things’.
  • Well-developed organisational skills and ability to manage competing demands.

Please note it is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.
