About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced Youth Case Manager to work with our Navigator program, which is an innovative, research-informed program that assists disengaged learners to re-connect back into education and learning.

You will be working with Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Youth and Families to support young people (12 - 17yrs) who have disconnected from school. With a focus on connection to culture and community, you will help young people identify their skills, interests and aspirations and alleviate barriers to their participation in education alongside their parents/carers. You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, comprising of a Team Leader, Intake and Assessment Workers, Case Managers, Youth Counsellor, a Groups Facilitator and other relevant services, bringing expertise and valuable understanding of Indigenous culture.

Who we are looking for:

  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist, Youth Work and/or related behavioural sciences 
  • Have the ability and passion for connecting the young person with community and culture through knowledge of the Traditional Custodians, whilst understanding cultural values, protocols and other issues relevant to Aboriginal communities.
  • Demonstrate ability and experience in Aboriginal case management with young people, families and/or significant others and to contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of student re-engagement plans.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and liaison skills and the ability to work with government and non-government organisations, community groups and clients’ families/networks.
  • Resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma
  • Have knowledge of school environments and educational policy.

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Drivers Licence, Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.  AV employees are required to either be fully vaccinated against Covid 19 or have a medical exemption. AV will require evidence that you are compliant with these requirements.

  • Flexible through the increments up to 6.3 (dependent upon experience)
