About the Role: 

The Keep Embracing Your Success (KEYS) service is an intensive transitional therapeutic program that supports complex young people and seeks to act as a springboard from residential care into less intensive community based options. KEYS has two components, the live in component, where the young person is living in the residential house and the outreach component, where the young person is living outside of the house but with KEYS support. Fantastic outcomes are achieved with the support and input of residential youth workers (Skills Coaches), family and community engagement workers, mental health support workers and other key staff to provide an intensive, trauma informed and highly therapeutic programs. Services and support to Young People is delivered in partnership between Anglicare Victoria, Monash Health and MIND Australia.   

The Senior Team Leader is responsible for providing a high level of operational management, therapeutic guidance, staff support and stakeholder engagement, in order to minimise risk and maximise outcomes for the young people.  The role entails a number of key duties such as coordination of therapeutic service delivery that provides genuine and positive outcomes for young people as well as operational and staff organisation and management duties. The role works in conjunction with the program manager of KEYS.

About you:

This is a SCHADS level 7 role requiring someone with exceptional knowledge and competency in therapeutic intervention and program delivery and best practice, as well as the ability to manage people, engage and support internal and external stakeholders and manage a busy workload and competing demands.

  • Tertiary qualification at degree level or above preferably in social work, psychology or behavioural sciences or equivalent. 
  • Extensive experience working with Young People in a highly therapeutic, Trauma informed services
  • Excellent understanding of the Child Protection, OOHC Placement and Support services and Family Service system, including legislative and policy framework.
  • Excellent knowledge of, and experience in the application of relevant therapeutic approaches that underpin practice (including theories of child attachment, development and abuse and pain based behaviours) to vulnerable children, young people and families.
  • Well-developed engagement and negotiation skills and ability to build effective and productive relationships with stakeholders such as the DHHS
  • Excellent autonomy and ability to work resiliently and effectively under pressure
  • Ability to create and promote a positive, resilient, supportive and collaborative team culture
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Trauma/Pain based behaviours.

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check, A Victorian Drivers Licence and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check as well as any additional training required prior to commencement.
