About the Program

A key recommendation of the Royal Commission and the Roadmap for Reform was to establish a network of Support and Safety Hubs (‘Hubs’) across Victoria to provide a new way for women, children and young people experiencing family violence, and families who need assistance with the care and wellbeing of children to access the services they need to be safe and supported. These Hubs are known as The Orange Door. The Orange Door delivers a fundamental change to the way we work with women, children and families, and men.

The Orange Doors brings together different workforces and practices to create an integrated Orange Door team and a consolidated intake point in each Orange Door area to create a new way of support for:

  • women, children, young people and families experiencing family violence;
  • perpetrators of family violence;
  • families in need of support with the care, development and well-being of infants, children and young people.

The Position

The Orange Door Senior Practitioners will work as part of an integrated team to provide specialist support to perpetrators, adults, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced family violence and families who need extra support with the care of children. In this role you will be responsible for the provision of services to Children and Young People entering The Orange Door.

As a Senior Practitioner you will support people with advice with a focus on risk assessment, engagement, provision of an initial response working with those who use violence. You will work collaboratively as part of an integrated practice approach to respond to family violence and children and family vulnerability concerns through the provision of;

  • Screening and triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions for men
  • Allocation services and coordination of referrals for men
  • Collaborative working with the Hub team to support integrated risk assessment and planning, including participating in case conferences, meetings and the resolution of stakeholder issues.

As a senior practitioner additional responsibility will also include;

  • Carrying a level of responsibility for decision making to Identify, assess and prioritise risk and needs of perpetrators;
  • Management of Caseloads as a lead practitioner or support worker if required.

About you

You are someone with:

  • Experience working with people who use violence
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Justice or Criminal Justice at degree level
  • Demonstrated experience working with family violence where there are complex needs and risk issues
  • Resilience to work with and make accountable those who choose to use violence
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and prioritise risks and needs of clients in a whole of family approach
  • The ability to recognise and identify limits of own expertise and to seek advice or refer clients to other specialists.

What you need to know:

  • A salary at SCHCADS level 6 which starts at $97,000 plus super, negotiable dependent upon experience
  • A brand new Orange Door Hub
  • Based at Croydon
  • Full time role/ part time .8 will be considered
  • Permanent
  • You will be working with MEN who use violence
  • Leadership and advice from Practice Leaders and the Hub Manager as well as the Anglicare Program Manager to support your needs

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.
