The Program:

Family Services aims to increase the safety and wellbeing of children and young people and prevent them from entering the child protection system.  Family Services conducts regular risk and needs assessments and aims to support parents to ensure the social, emotional, educational, health and developmental needs for their children. 

The Family Services program covers the outer-east catchment (Yarra Ranges, Maroondah and Knox local government areas) and consists of a range of services including Child FIRST, Family Services, Rapid Response, SafeCare and Cradle to Kinder.

The Program:

This Senior Family Services role supports the leadership of the Family Services team.  The role provides support to practitioners, actively contribute to a positive and learning culture and assisting the Team Leader in the leadership of the team and meeting the program’s objectives.

To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:

  1. A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or related qualification.
  2. An excellent understanding of the social context of child abuse and neglect and experience in applying relevant theoretical approaches to deliver outcomes.
  3. Highly experienced in active engagement of vulnerable children, youth and families and delivering a range of interventions to improve their outcomes.
  4. Excellent experience in conducting risk and needs assessments, including for family violence, and developing and implementing action plans, including advanced skills in case management and developing community linkages.
  5. Leadership skills and ability to support staff in their practice, including promoting a learning and supportive workplace culture.

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.
