The Position:

The role of the Out of Home Care Support Worker is to provide direct support to case managers, newly established and ongoing Out of Home Care placements. This role will support facilitating contact with the child/young person’s family/extended family/community and to support reunification of children with their families wherever possible.  This role will include writing notes, maintaining client paper file records and assisting with general office based tasks as directed including general typing, filing and administration support. 

To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need: 

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work or associate diploma level or other relevant area
• Some experience in child, youth and family welfare experience, with particular experience in out of home care
• Understanding of the legislative, policy and practice environment of out of home care
• Resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma, violence or neglect
• Ability to provide practical, flexible and respectful support as part of a plan for assisting families. 
• Current Victorian (or equivalent) drivers license
• Well-developed communication skills both verbal and written
• Well developed organisational skill
• Ability to work collaboratively with external organisations
