About the Program;

The Navigator program delivers an innovative, research-informed program to assist dis-engaged learners (12 - 17 years) re-connect back into education and learning. Funded by the Department of Education and in partnership with Barwon Child, Youth and Family (program lead), Wathanrong and Geelong Regional Learning and Employment Newtork, Anglicare Victoria (AV) are delivering this aspirational, multi-disciplinary program in the Geelong/Barwon area.

The Positions: 

We currently have two new Case Manager positions available, 1 x full-time (38hrs) and 1 x part-time (22.8hrs or 3 days per week). These are fixed term positions up at 31st December 2021.

The Navigator Case Manager position, which is located and receives operational support alongside the Barwon Child Youth and Family Navigator Team as well as organisational assistance from Anglicare Victoria, will support young people who have disengaged from school back to education.

The objectives of the positions are to:

  • Provide case management services to young people who have disconnected from school, their families and/or carers and schools, to identify and alleviate any barriers to young people participating in mainstream education
  • Work within the expectations of the Barwon Navigator partnership MOU and DET Service Agreement, collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, to achieve Navigator Program outcomes
  • Develop an education support plan to re-engage and maintain school attendance

To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:

  • Ability and experience in case management of young people, families and/or significant others in relation to school re-engagement. Knowledge of school environments and educational policy will be highly regarded
  • Ability to achieve positive outcomes by using a range of strategies in working with young people presenting with challenges such as: family issues, mental health, trauma, financial stress, AOD, intellectual disabilities
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with government and non-government organisations, community groups and clients’ families/networks
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, and to contribute to program development, implementation and evaluation
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level with substantial experience; or associate diploma level with substantial experience in the relevant service stream, or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.  A current drivers licence is also a requirement of this role.
