About the role:

We are currently looking for an experienced youth case manager, with expertise supporting LGBTQIA+ gender questioning youth, to work with our Navigator program - an innovative, research-informed program that assists disengaged learners to re-connect back into education and learning.

You will be working with young people (12 - 17yrs) who have disconnected from school. You will help young people identify their skills, interests and aspirations and alleviate barriers to their participation in education alongside their parents/carers. You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, comprising of a Team Leader, Intake and Assessment Workers, Case Managers, Youth Counsellor, a Groups Facilitator and other relevant services, bringing expertise and valuable understanding of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Who we are looking for:

  1. Have a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level
  2. Resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma
  3. Ability and experience in case management with LGBTQI+ and gender questioning young people, their families and/or significant others and to contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of student Re-engagement plans.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and liaison skills and an ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Have knowledge of school environments and educational policy.

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current drivers licence, Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.  AV employees are required to either be fully vaccinated against Covid 19 or have a medical exemption. AV will require evidence that you are compliant with these requirements.

  • Flexible through the increments up to 6.3 (dependent upon experience)
  • Full time- 5 days per week
  • Site based at our office in Werribee with outreach across Western Melbourne
