The Navigator program is an exciting new initiative to reconnect young people in the Wimmera South-West to education. This new case management position provides opportunity to work directly with young people to reduce barriers to their participation in education. You will also create partnerships with local schools, community agencies, and services to wrap supports around young people, their families and carers. 

• Three positions are available in Horsham (full-time), Warrnambool (full-time) and Hamilton (0.8);
• The positions will be located, as part of a team, with Local Learning and Employment Networks, who are partnering with us;

The Position:

This position is key to supporting young people 12-17 yrs, their families, and carers to take positive steps to re-engage and return to  mainstream schooling. The position requires creativity, innovation, flexibility and a willingness to work collaboratively with families and local agencies - creating solutions that are 'out of the box'.

This position will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, connected with mobile technology across the region, comprising of four case managers, and a Team Leader. The positions are co-located in the offices of Local Learning and Employment Networks who are partners in the delivery of Navigator.

You will join our statewide community of practice, as an integral part of our Navigator programs in Western Melbourne and Central Victoria.

To be successful in this position you will need:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level with substantial experience; or associate diploma level with substantial experience in the relevant service stream, or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level.
• Ability and experience in case management with young people, families and/or significant others.
• Ability to use a range of strategies in working with families/carers around family issues such as abuse, family breakdown and family relationships.
• Knowledge of adolescent development processes for working with individuals and groups.
• Ability to contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of client case plans.
• Knowledge of school environments and educational policy.
• Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and liaison skills and the ability to work with government and non-government organisations, community groups and clients’ families/networks.
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, and to contribute to program development, implementation and evaluation.
