Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our organisation and help us to support and connect with people on every step of their life path, responding with love, care, hope and humility, and support the most vulnerable in our community. Anglicare recognises the critical role our volunteers play and the positive impact they make.

We currently have a two exciting opportunities for passionate Coordinators to take ownership of our Community Visitors Scheme. The role will involve coordinating the recruitment selection, orientation, supervision and support of CVS volunteers.

Community Visitors provide social support to isolated older persons living in the community or in residential aged care. The Coordinator also liaises with aged care providers external to Anglicare to ensure awareness of the scheme and access for eligible older persons. The focus of this program is to match volunteers and clients who have similar hobbies and interests, life experiences and other connections in order to reduce social isolation, enhance the lives and increase the wellbeing of all parties.

The roles are part-time (3 days per week) and are both 12 month contracts.

The Role

Some of the responsibilities of the role will include;

  • Collaboratively identify potential volunteer requirements, determine attraction strategies to resource and recruit to the positions.
  • Interview potential volunteers, match and appoint to clients enrolled in the CVS scheme.
  • Provide mandatory training directly and/or through self-paced learning tools.
  • Provide local service orientation including: who to report to and when, recording hours, understand the role, boundaries and confidentiality; introduction to services, staff, WHS, fire and emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Provide volunteers with support, feedback and recognition.
  • Liaise internally as necessary regarding resources and processes.
  • Maintain CVS volunteer records, including recording of volunteer hours.
  • Generate activity reports to direct manager and program funders.

Skills and Experience

Whether you have already established understanding of the CVS program, or come from a alternative background, your commitment to supporting our services by creating strong, effective relationships will be paramount. Some of your skills and capabilities will include:

  • Experience in volunteer coordination and management and work collaboratively with clients and their families and / or carers to maximise client outcomes.
  • Ability to lead a team and provide appropriate supervision and support.
  • Experience within a community based multidisciplinary team environment with the capacity to negotiate with a range of stakeholders, operate flexibly, and problem solve effectively.
  • Well developed verbal and written communication including excellent documentation and report writing skills.

You will be required to hold the following:

  • Certificate IV in Volunteer Coordination, Community Service Coordination or equivalent (desirable).
  • Queensland Drivers Licence.
  • National Police Certificate.
  • Current Flu & Covid 19 Vaccination Evidence.
