The Anglican Diocese of Melbourne is a large and dynamic organisation comprising of over 200 parishes located throughout metropolitan Melbourne and extending to include the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas.

Reporting to the Archdeacon for Diocesan Partnerships, the Program Manager, Preventing Violence Against Women (PVAW) Program leads the realisation of the Diocese of Melbourne’s commitment to prevent violence against women. The role is a full time fixed term contract subject to continued funding.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver the diocese’s response and prevention training program to parish clergy and lay leaders;
  • Deliver prevention and response training for theological colleges;
  • Deliver the State Government funded Whole Church pilot project;
  • Consolidate the establishment of the family safety champion role in churches;
  • Deliver coaching to key church leaders in the Diocese to motivate them to take action;
  • Oversee the implementation of the PVAW Program Monitoring and Evaluation Plan;
  • Policy development, awareness-raising, resource development, capacity building within the Diocesan leadership team, and liaising with Anglican schools, agencies and other organisations.
  • Represent the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne on relevant professional networks and committees;
  • Provide secretariat support to the PVAW Program Committee of Management; and
  • Provide ongoing supervision for PVAW Program staff.

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Have at least two to four years’ experience working in the area of preventing violence against women;
  • Have an understanding of faith-based contexts with a demonstrated understanding of the Anglican Church;
  • Be familiar with a whole-of-organisation approach to preventing violence against women;
  • Have demonstrated experience leading prevention of violence against women practice;
  • Have a solid understanding of the Change the Story framework;
  • Be subject to satisfactory clearances including a Police and Working with Children Check;
  • Hold a Bachelor degree or above in Health Promotion, Gender Studies, Community Development, Education and Training or equivalent;
  • Ideally have a valid driver’s license; and
  • Have Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

In return for your skills and enthusiastic commitment, this full time role pays between $80,000 and $90,000 plus super with an organisation that makes a difference in the lives of many varied individuals across parishes and Victoria.
