About the role:

The role of the Family Counsellor provides person centred and culturally appropriate general, trauma and domestic violence counselling to individuals, couples, families as well as groups and prioritises clients referred on by CPFS. Outreach is a big component of this role. The Family Counsellor, in consultation with Manager, East Kimberley, also develops and implements a strategic plan for the promotion and delivery of education programmes in the East Kimberley communities.

This is a max term, full time contract until March 2021 based in Kununurra.

About you:

To be successful in this combined role you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling or other human services related field
• Relevant experience counselling individuals, couples and families with a person centred, strengths based and trauma informed approach
• Knowledge of current trends and resources in general counselling, family and domestic violence, community education and community development
• Knowledge of the impact of family violence on adult victims, children, young people and communities
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities
• Ability to deliver community education and community development programmes
• Willingness to travel regionally across remote East Kimberley communities

The successful candidate must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check and a WA Drivers Licence.

Remuneration and benefits:

• Full time salary of $86,806-$90,736 per annum plus superannuation
• In addition $16,600 per annum housing and utilities allowances (T&C's apply)
• Salary packaging with additional options for remote area living
