About AMSANT

AMSANT is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in the Northern Territory and advocates for equity in health, focusing on supporting the provision of high quality comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.

Role Description

This position will work as part of a team to support ACCHSs and work collaboratively in the development and implementation of an Aboriginal workforce strategy for Central Australian and the Barkly regions over the term of the project. The position will be part of the Public Health team and will be particularly supported by a senior position in the Public Health team that oversight the project. The project builds upon previous work AMSANT has undertaken including the Lowitja Career Pathways project and other research, workforce and leadership initiatives within the AMSANT teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and participate in investigator, research project team, and partner meetings; develop agendas and track action items.
  • Coordinate communication between AMSANT and the research team, along with local and national partners.
  • Contribute to a targeted literature review and stakeholder consultation about current workforce activities that support retention and career pathways growing & supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in ACCHSs
  • Coordinate and implement all aspects and stages of the project including design, evaluation, ethics application, and conduct field work, analysis of findings, report writing and feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and procedures and principles, including research ethics and participatory action research standards
  • Collaborate with research team on testing and improvement on the development of workforce strategies and its resources.
  • Manage the preparation and formulation of publications, presentations and research reports arising from the research and support feedback to the involved health service.
  • Attend and contribute to AMSANT staff meetings and other meetings as required

In this role you are required to travel in a 4WD vehicle and/or light aircraft to Member services.
