The AMOU is the oldest continuously registered union in the country. We represent maritime professionals employed on shore in port authorities, port service providers & stevedoring companies and officers at sea in towage, pilotage, offshore oil & gas, domestic shipping and blue water. The AMOU has offices in Sydney (HQ), Fremantle, Melbourne and Brisbane and has an experienced industrial team of four Industrial Officers and two Senior Organisers.

The successful candidate will be based in the AMOU Brisbane Office in Bowen Hills. S/he will, for a time shadow the Senior Organiser, and will be assigned preparatory duties including familiarisation with current enterprise agreements, membership demographics and database, meeting the Executive Council team and members in their workplaces. Once up and running duties will include identifying organising opportunities, conducting EA negotiations, representing members in individual disputes, dispensing industrial advice and writing a monthly activity report.

For the protection of AMOU members any candidate must have received two recognised COVID-19 vaccinations.

PAY & CONDITIONS

This position will be filled as soon as we have identified the ideal candidate. Remuneration is in the range of $85,000 and $110,000, depending on skills and experience, plus 11% employer superannuation contribution.
