This is an exciting opportunity to join our Movement and Supporter Engagement teams! At Amnesty, our Volunteers play a central and vital part in our work to protect and defend human rights. Our Volunteers work with staff, activists and the public to deliver projects and support ongoing work. Reporting to the Movement Manager, you will be supporting the running of effective volunteer programs as well as working with two fantastic senior leaders. This is a diverse role and no two days will look the same.

This is a real opportunity to make the role your own and offer valued support to a large team. You will put your solid volunteer managing experience and superior administrative skills to use by ensuring the consistency and effectiveness of the volunteer program, ensuring the team has appropriate volunteer support and completing all administrative tasks in a timely and effective manner.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating and liaising with the Movement Manager, other volunteer-focused roles, volunteers and staff to support an integrated, effective and positive volunteering program at AIA
  • Assessing the capability of staff and coordinating training or other support to ensure staff meet volunteer management expectations
  • Developing training materials on volunteer and staff responsibilities relating to the Volunteer Code of Practice
  • Ensuring that volunteering resources are centralised
  • Driving continuous improvements in volunteer recruitment, induction and management including setting and evaluating indicators for success
  • Ensuring Supporter Engagement and Movement teams have effective volunteer programs
  • Scheduling team meetings, note-taking and agenda management/facilitation where required
  • Administration, scheduling and travel support for Directors and teams as required

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in team administration, eg. meeting scheduling, note-taking, processing invoices and expenses
  • Well developed organisational and logistics management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and face to face)
  • Experience in managing and coordinating office-based volunteers
  • Passion for human rights and an interest in human rights issues
  • An understanding of working in a not for profit including; mass mobilisation, activism and organising techniques

This role is ideal for someone wanting to build on their volunteer coordination experience and build their career in the human rights space, with a desire to contribute to the movement. This is a part-time role working 60 hours per fortnight.
