If you’re passionate about human rights and looking for a role where you can make real social change this is an exciting opportunity to join Amnesty International Australia’s Organising team in a permanent part time capacity. Reporting to the Organising Lead, the Organiser is responsible for building a cohort of highly skilled and empowered activists in Australia who effectively campaign for human rights in their communities.

The Organiser ensures that AI Australia's activist leaders are engaged, skilled and effective in driving activism and mobilisation across the Australian community.

We’re looking for an organiser who will mentor, train and develop activist leaders to ensure their development as defenders of human rights. You will also have experience working with activist leaders and rights holder communities to develop and deliver meaningful outcomes.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Working alongside activist leaders to create strategies, plans and activities to ensure strong and active local groups, campus networks, issue networks and other activism structures
  • Work closely with Activist Leadership Committees to develop and implement programs to grow activism and mobilisation nationally and in each region
  • Mentor, train and develop activist leaders to ensure their development as defenders of human rights
  • Provide advice and support for lead activists organising campaign activities and events
  • Provide advice and support to colleagues across Amnesty in designing, implementing and evaluating strategies and activities to engage activist leaders
  • Mobilise action groups and supporters on campaigns through the development of and implementation of mass outreach activities in partnership with lead activists
  • Work with lead activists to build relationships with key external stakeholders to advance AI Australia's goals including fundraising goals
  • Advise and support colleagues to develop, implement and evaluate strategies to strengthen the participation of activists leaders across all AI Australia’s campaigns and activities
  • Collaborate with other Organisers to support the effective planning and coordination of organising activities across Australia and the Asia Pacific
