This full time role, based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne, is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative and growing program. The Trauma in Childhood Consultancy Service (TraCS) program, works with kindergartens to build capacity in working with traumatised and vulnerable children.

You would be responsible for:

  • Supporting teachers and educators to understand and work with children whose lives have been affected by trauma.
  • Supporting teachers and educators in creating safe and supportive learning environments, for traumatised children.
  • Supporting teachers and educators to understand the impact of their own emotional regulation to provide a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including kindergartens, schools, family services, allied health professionals, local government, the Department of Education, & Department of Health & Human Services.
  • Providing clinical support to teachers and educators to promote the relationship between teacher and child.

Experience required:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in the social welfare field such as Social Work or Psychology, with eligibility for membership of professional organisations.
  • At least five years' experience in providing high quality, complex case management to children, youth and families in the context of violence or abuse and trauma.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, asking for help when needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the best practice models and theories relating to children, families, trauma and violence or abuse.
  • Experience working in programs with a focus on children in the early years (desirable).
