The role:

Based in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne (Hume), this full time position is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative and growing program. The 'Family Practitioner, Early Childhood Trauma Consultancy Service (TraCS)' role, works with early childhood services to build capacity in working with traumatised and vulnerable children.

You would be responsible for:

  • Facilitating referrals and links to relevant services, supporting children and families experiencing vulnerability.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with community service organisations, specialist programs, and key stakeholders.
  • Supporting staff in navigating reports to Child Protection.
  • Participating in family meetings when required to support the needs of vulnerable children and families.
  • Coaching early childhood staff to have difficult conversations with families, regarding their concerns about children.

Knowledge, Experience & Requirements:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in the social welfare field such as Social Work or Psychology, with eligibility for membership of professional organisation.
  • At least three years' experience in providing high quality, complex case management to children, youth and families in the context of violence or abuse and trauma.
  • Proven ability in networking and fostering collaborative relationships with relevant agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the best practice models and theories relating to children, families, trauma and violence or abuse.
  • Experience working in programs with a focus on children in the early years (desirable).
