At the Foundation, we support our staff to work flexibly, both in location and hours, based on the premise that work will remain the focus of any arrangement. This role is based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, and attendance to the Alannah & Madeline Foundation head office in South Melbourne may be required occasionally.

The role:

Reporting into the Trauma Consultancy Service (TraCS) Program Manager, this part time (0.5), 1-year contract role will work closely with the TraCS leadership team, educators / early childhood staff and a large council in Melbourne’s northern suburbs to deliver trauma informed support to a small number of kindergartens in the region.

You would be responsible for:

  • Supporting teachers and educators to work with children whose lives have been affected by trauma.
  • Developing plans which support children to develop pro-social skills.
  • Support referrals and links to relevant services to support children and families experiencing vulnerability
  • Maintain accurate and up to date client management and statistical records.
  • Proactively contribute to program developments and improvements.

Experience required:

  • A tertiary qualification in social welfare, with eligibility for membership of professional organisation
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience providing high quality, complex case management to children, youth and families in the context of violence or abuse and trauma.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice models and theories relating to children, families, trauma and violence or abuse.
  • Demonstrated experience in translating relevant and emerging knowledge and theory into practice.
  • Hold a current drivers’ license and willingness and ability to use own vehicle (expense reimbursement provided)
