ABOUT ALNF

The Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) is a national charity seeking to assist people in our most marginalised communities to gain vital language, literacy and communication skills. ALNF’s specialised, innovative and proven programs address the needs of a diverse range of individuals and communities – specifically targeting First Nations, refugee and other vulnerable Australians. ALNF believes that literacy is freedom- literacy allows individuals to access education, participate meaningfully in our society and to have a voice. It is a basic human right.

ALNF has a casual (2 day a week) position at our warehouse in Alexandria for a warehouse assistant, keen to join our small, dedicated team. This role offers flexibility, and a dynamic work environment with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable Australians.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting the Warehouse and Product Manager with general, day-to-day activities which could include:

  • Basic assembly and packing of products.
  • Receiving and unpacking stock.
  • General administration and logistics.
  • Coordinating delivery of stock from end to end.
  • Organising the warehouse space to ensure a safe and tidy environment.
  • Potential outreach and communication with schools and communities.
  • Assisting with regular and corporate volunteer sessions.
  • Other ad-hoc duties that may arise.

ABOUT YOU

Whilst no previous warehouse experience is necessary, your skills and attributes include:

  • Great organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, punctual, reliable and responsible.
  • A willingness to engage in physically demanding work at times (books are heavy!)
  • Basic computer skills- Word, Excel, Google Docs etc.

Desired:

  • A valid driver’s license
  • A love of books.
