Executive Officer - Albury

Albury Conservation Company Ltd

Albury Conservation Company (ACC) was established in 2006 to help protect and enhance the natural environment of Albury Wodonga, Australia's 20th largest city.

ACC's vision is for Albury Wodonga to become a regional city 'blueprint' for successfully balancing urban growth with the protection of threatened species.

ACC’s mission is to maintain viable populations of threatened species through scientific research, strategic on-ground conservation actions and collaborating with key stakeholders directly responsible for conserving biodiversity. Central to our mission is strategic engagement with Albury and Wodonga Councils and local communities to raise awareness and build capacity to respond to biodiversity threats.
ACC is a not-for-profit registered charity with a strong history as a driver of local threatened species research and conservation. ACC has funded and delivered many un-precedented local conservation projects in partnership with funding bodies and philanthropic foundations, key stakeholders and local communities. In addition to the Albury Wodonga Threatened Species Monitoring Program (since 2018) and Albury Wodonga NatureMapr citizen science platform (established in 2020), ACC has funded and facilitated threatened species research (e.g. Sloanes Froglet, Squirrel Glider), delivered innovative conservation initiatives (e.g. Hollow-bearing tree mapping project, Thurgoona Men’s Shed Nest box Program) and pro-actively engaged and shared information with key audiences.

Albury Conservation Company is about to embark on a new phase in its development with assured funding from a number of major funding bodies and is looking to engage a new Executive Officer to guide the organisation through this important phase.

The key objectives of the Executive Officer's role are to:

  • Build financial sustainability through identifying and pursuing funding opportunities via government, philanthropic, business and public donor sources;
  • Lead all communications, stakeholder engagement and partnership building;
  • Manage the organisation to deliver a range of conservation initiatives; and
  • Facilitate and enhance community engagement with ACC’s programs, whilst building awareness and appreciation of Albury / Wodonga’s unique biodiversity values.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Leading the successful delivery and expansion of ACC’s programs, including the Albury Wodonga Threatened Species Monitoring Program and Albury Wodonga Nature Map;
  • Identifying and pursuing fundraising opportunities that closely align with ACC’s strategic objectives;
  • Initiating and maintaining networks with key stakeholders to promote resource sharing, harness support for delivery of projects, and advance the company’s interests.
  • Representing the company on Albury City’s Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC), Thurgoona Community Action Group (TCAG) and other relevant forums as directed by the Board.
  • Coordinating submissions to key external policies, strategies and plans that interact with the company’s visions and mission, as advised by the Board.
  • Managing ACC contractors/consultants to ensure projects, on-ground works and activities are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Managing project budgets in collaboration with the company’s Chairperson / Public Officer.
