Assessment Officer

Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking an Assessment Officer to join our Assessment for Migration (AFM) team in assessing applications from teachers interested in migrating to Australia under the Department of Home Affairs’ Skilled Migration Program. This is a full time, maximum term position until 30 June 2022. AITSL operates in a blended working environment with work completed both in the office and from home.

Your day-to-day role will focus on the assessment of applications for nominated teacher occupations and communicating with relevant internal and external stakeholders including applicants and agents on outcomes, enquiries and investigations.

You will provide input into the review and development of communications, policy and research activities to support high quality, consistent and timely assessment of applications; ensuring that all outcomes are appropriately documented.

This is not your typical compliance role though. You will need to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and change, demonstrating a high level of resilience and responsiveness to identify, rigorous and consistent solutions.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with experience in a regulatory or compliance environment, where adherence to business processes and consistent decision making is paramount. This will be coupled with solid policy, organisational and communication skills.

You will possess outstanding analytical skills with the ability to exercise judgement and consistently apply processes and standards. You will have experience in using evidence to make decisions against standards, and the personal nous to deal with change and see issues and complexities as a positive opportunity.

On top of that - you’re a true team player! The AFM team is a tight knit group who regularly collaborate and brainstorm solutions together. You will need to thrive in that collegiate environment and be able to work effectively in a small team that is predominately operating from home.
