AFL SportsReady is an independent, not-for-profit company, established in 1994, which is dedicated to helping young Australians to develop careers through traineeships and educational opportunities.
We have kick-started the careers of approximately 16,000 young jobseekers, including over 2,500 Indigenous Australians, and helped develop over 700 sporting organisations and other businesses across Australia.
AFL SR is a National company with around 70 staff and trainees located all across Australia, and a head office based in Melbourne.
THE ROLE
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Support a caseload of program participants through the course of their traineeship and employment
- Provide support to, and engage with our network of host employers – maintaining positive and effective working relationships
- Support business development and program promotion activities where required
- Engage with a variety of external stakeholders and community partners, and support community engagement activities
- Complete relevant program administration on time and to a high standard

Position Description – Field Officer

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential criteria are:
- Relevant qualifications and/or sector experience;
- Connection and contribution to company mission and ethos of AFL SR;
- Understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and young people;
- Effective team worker and excellent communicator;
- Demonstrated initiative, ability to work autonomously and sound judgement;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; and
- Demonstrated ability to follow systems and processes to maintain accurate records.
- Metropolitan and regional travel required.
An up to date Working with Children Check, and a current Driver’s License are also mandatory requirements of this role. Experience working within a Group Training Organisation (GTO) is desirable but not mandatory for this position. Experience managing a caseload within an employment and/ or community services environment is also desirable.
