Aboriginal Family Law Services (WA) aims to provide free, culturally secure, legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault.

We are seeking a Training Officer to work at our office in Rivervale office. The successful applicant will work alongside our leadership team to help shape the direction of the Aboriginal Family Legal Services (AFLS) Employees and services.

The Training Officer is responsible for the development and execution of training and assessment programs. The successful applicant will provide high quality training to AFLS Employees remotely from the corporate office in Rivervale. The training will need be tailored to cover role specific fundamentals as well as general essentials of the organisation. As well as delivering the training the role entails the maintenance of a database containing data from the training and program management.

The Training Officer will work closely with the Regional Services Manager, Administration Services Manager, Principal Legal Officers, Human Resources and Workplace Health and Safety to develop and execute training amongst AFLS Employees and offices.

To be considered for this position you need to meet the following criteria:

Essential

  • Diploma/Certificate in Training and Assessment
  • 2 years’ experience in a Training and Assessor role
  • Experience working in a legal organisation
  • Experience in design and delivery of training programs
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
  • Cultural Awareness and Understanding
  • Experience of working closely with professional colleagues and external stakeholders in order to deliver a joined up, high quality service, focused on staff development.
  • Experience with delivering training remotely (via teams or phone)
  • Data entry and management
  • Program development and management
  • Ability to work with Leadership team but also able to self-manage workload and operate independently when required

Desirable

  • Certified Legal Practitioner
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and time management
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation
  • Ability to travel when requirement to regional offices

Essential Eligibility Requirements

  • Current ‘C’ Class WA Driver’s License
  • Current Police Clearance Certificate
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Covid Vaccination Certificate
