about the role

We are seeking a Legal Administration Officer to work at our office in Rivervale office on a Part time basis (0.8).

We are committed to creating a environment that is culturally safe for our clients. As such, we are actively seeking applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates for this position.

To be considered for this position you will possess the necessary skills and experience to do the following:

  • Sending and receiving correspondence on behalf of Solicitor and Social Workers
  • Filing and other necessary administrative support
  • Scheduling, coordinating and confirming court dates, appointments, and meetings
  • Proactively provide clerical assistance to legal and social support teams.
  • Understand the basics of a number of court documents, such as summons and subpoenas
  • Arrange for the filing of court documents
  • Carry out other duties as requested by Managing Solicitor

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in previous similar role
  • Experience working in the Legal sector
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Demonstrated planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and communications skills
  • Computer literacy all Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, Excel spreadsheet competency, power point, internet and email)
  • Efficient time management
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks at one given time.

Desirable

  • Tertiary level qualifications relevant to the position
  • A proven capacity to creatively deal with challenging issues
  • Experience working in Community Legal organisation
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people

Essential Eligibility Requirements

  • Current ‘C’ class WA Driver’s License
  • Current Federal Police Clearance
  • Working with Children Check
  • Covid Vaccination Certificate

The successful applicant will need to gain and demonstrate a broad general knowledge of AFLS and the suite of services that it delivers and the sites that it delivers from, as well as the ability to identify key personnel and have contact details available for all other AFLS sites.
