About the opportunity

Due to our continued growth, we are expanding our Allied Health Teams and require an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to maintain and manage their own clinical caseload whilst supervising a team of behaviour support practitioners nationally. Some of the key responsibilities in this role will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Maintaining and managing own clinical caseload in an efficient, effective and timely manner:
    • Effectively provide a high level of Behaviour Support intervention to clients.
    • Providing quality assessments, intervention and Behaviour Support services
    • Communicate assessed needs clearly and precisely to clients and staff within appropriate time frames
    • Collaborate with families when designing intervention plans to achieve client goals
    • Follow all NDIA, national and state-based legal requirements in the provision of services.
    • Providing training and support to assist clients, families and carers with the implementation of Behaviour Support Plans, intervention and programs
    • Write comprehensive assessment and review reports 
    • Demonstrate compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements. E.g. Effectively communicate any problem areas to management team
    • At all times be professional, caring and excellent communicator
    • Adhere to the timelines indicated by the client and provide quality service. Your performance is measured by the number of hours you provide services to clients and the quality service provided
  • Supervising Behaviour Support Practitioners nationally by:
    • Conducting clinical induction to Behaviour Support
    • Organising peer support groups, supervision and training for new starters
    • Editing and co-signing Positive Behaviour Support Plans
    • Overseeing behaviour support practitioners adhere to Performance Measures listed above

About You

Affords vision is to provide innovative, flexible and high-quality support for people with disabilities. As an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner you will have a genuine desire to support people with disabilities lead exceptional lives. You will also have:

  • Appropriate allied health degree and/or experience behaviour support together with registration as a behaviour support practitioner with the NDIA
  • Working with Children and NSW Police Check
  • Experience working with paediatric and adult clients with a disability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and customer service delivery
  • Exceptional organisation and time management skills and the ability to work autonomously in a complex environment characterised by competing demands and tight timelines
  • Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently
  • Commitment to personal and professional improvement
  • A clean, unrestricted drivers’ licence
  • Eligibility under the NDIS Safety Commission to be assessed as a Proficient or Advance Behaviour Support Practitioner
