PURPOSE

The Communications and Marketing Officer (CMO) is responsible for promoting and gaining support for Action on Poverty’s work among the Australian public and strategic audiences. The CMO is responsible for the development, coordination and execution of communications and marketing strategies that align with AOP’s internal and external communications strategy and objectives. Support growth and presence across digital platforms, While supporting the broader organization the CMO works most closely and collaboratively with the Partnerships and Fundraising team to deliver effective campaigns that support the work of AOP in Asia, the Pacific and Africa.

Supporting communications initiatives in AOP’s Vietnam office.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

The CMO works closely with Action on Poverty’s senior management teams, fundraising and programs teams. CMO manages relationships with external agencies. The CMO also liaises with in-country staff in Vietnam.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in related field;
  • Experience in communications and marketing, preferably in the not for profit sector.
  • Strong experience using and managing digital platforms; FB, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn etc
  • Knowledge of international development issues and the Australian NGO context;
  • Proficient using Microsoft products; and web development tools; word press
  • Exceptional written communication skills.

Action on Poverty (AOP) is a secular, not-for-profit non-government organisation (NGO), founded in Australia in 1968 and incorporated in the state of NSW in 1983. AOP supports Programs in Africa, the South Pacific, Southeast Asia and South Asia. Working in partnership with others is a key feature of our work. We focus on strengthening and empowering local NGOs civil society groups in developing countries so that they can better meet their own aspirations.

AOP holds full accreditation with the Australian Government and is a signatory to the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Code of Conduct, which requires high standards of corporate governance, public accountability and financial management to be in place.
