Advocacy Tasmania

When it comes to ‘no’, we’re not having it. We will insist, persist, resist.

Because we know that if we give up, our clients are worse off.

There are days when the obstacles seem insurmountable.

But when you put the rights of a client back in their hands, against all odds, you measurably change their life.

How’s that for job satisfaction?

It’s what we do for a living and it’s anything but ordinary.

We exist to protect the rights of others, we support clients to ensure their voice is heard and resolve their issues, and we are actively involved in bettering systems.

Advocacy Tasmania is seeking applications from people who want to work as Advocates for people living with disability or mental health issues, older people and/or people who use alcohol or other drugs.

Our Advocates are compassionate, yet tenacious and they bring good energy and reassurance to difficult situations. They are very good listeners and compelling communicators. And, when they are not working directly with their clients in the community, they are comfortable working solely from home.

It’s an excellent place to work; we pay well for the sector and apply additional benefits like salary packaging and a 17.5% annual leave loading. And understanding and compassion are extended beyond clients, to take good care of our team too.

To be considered for one of our vacancies, you will need to send the following directly to [email protected]:

  • A copy of your current resume (including where you live and whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time work)
  • A brief cover letter (no more than 2 pages) describing how you meet the selection criteria and why you think you’d be a great fit for our organisation.

Please be aware that applications submitted directly through Ethical Jobs or other online job sites will not be considered.

A copy of the position description, including the selection criteria, can be accessed at: https://advocacytasmania.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Advocate-PD-Jan-2023.pdf
