About the Role

This is a newly created role and will provide communication and engagement expertise and support across the organisation.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for the implementation of Disability Advocacy’s (DA) Communication Strategy;
  • Develop and effectively promote and maintain a positive public profile for the Advocacy Law Alliance (ALA) brand to increase recognition among key stakeholders, target groups with a disability with a strong commitment to regional, rural and remote communities;
  • Produce and disseminate content for various mediums internally and externally along with managing the website and social media platforms;
  • Work collaboratively with the staff and leadership team within the regions to generate ideas, implement, and support marketing strategies and campaigns in line with organisational goals and brand guidelines;
  • Act as the media liaison for ALA ensuring positive coverage through effective media relations with social, broadcast, print and news media.

This opportunity is 3 days per week located in Valley Heights, Blue Mountains.

Salary is SCHADS level 4 along with generous benefits including additional paid leave over the Christmas period, flexible work opportunities and salary sacrificing options.

About you

We are looking for individuals to bring their passion to impactful storytelling to give voice to people with Disability. Ideally you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., communications, journalism, media);
  • Proven experience in a similar role, working in a not-for-profit and/or disability sector is desirable however not essential;
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to write efficiently, creatively, concisely, and accurately for various audiences;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Familiarity using Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing tasks and priorities.
